Now that Season 3 of Star Trek Discovery has begun, I figured it was time to check in on this awesome show from CBS and see if it's still as good as we all remember.

Definitely the worst Star Trek ever. And I've seen every episode from every iteration of the franchise and it's spin offs.

Well, I passed on this quickly, about three episodes into season one. I couldn't stomach anymore. Ever watched The Expanse? I absolutely love that series, and I'd sooner watch that and New season's of The Orville than this.

I think some people aren't seeing the problem. The problem isn't that a POC is the main character. No one actually cares about that. And if they do they are dumb as fuck. The problem is this isn't a Star Trek show. It's fucking Star Wars with Trek elements. The spore thing is just the fucking force and you know damn well that show isn't above spore force ghosts. The writers of STD have admitted they don't like Star Trek. They want to change the once idealistic, hopeful Trek of the past into Emotions in Space with a bunch of shitty space battles. STD doesn't make you hope for a better future or long to go where no man has gone before. Because it's not about how diplomacy and compassion can be the deadliest weapons of them all (WHICH IS WHAT STAR TREK IS FUCKING ABOUT) it's about how Micheal Burnham is destined to save us all with her bold and brave sacrifice as the Space Jesus Red Angel. I had far more fun watching this witty and sarcastic video than I did watching season 3 of STD. Thanks for turning something as boring and poorly written as Discovery into an 8 minute entertaining video, not an easy thing to do.

Its not the diversity that bugs me. Its the forceful and obvious LGBT agenda. Right off the bat the stamez and doctor thingy. And in season3 the adira and trill thing. Maybe in season 7 theyll intro a MAP couple. Everbodys got to have representation right?

I don’t understand the problem with the diversity. At least to me it doesn’t feel forced AT ALL.It’s not a “woke” show.Michael has never complain about “how hard it is to be a woman of colour in the fleet” and no one has ever said “women are better than man”.The characters just happen to be female or happen to have different ethnicity.I feels natural and it if makes you feel uncomfortable that it’s a you problem 😐 I mean there have been movies were there is only 1 female and all she does is show her ass and basically say she is “cool and not like other girls” and you guys didn’t seem to have an issue then.As a girl it’s refreshing to see a female lead that doesn’t complain all the time and acts better than guys. But I guess you guys don’t like that either,I guess you just don’t like women and POC 😃

Burnham causes many major disasters that could've been avoided and her character is just bad. She is a bad person. Constantly only looking out for herself. People like you don't know how to put together a good argument you just claim the other person is racist or sexist and move on.

I beg to differ on the female space jesus - I ended up concluding that the casting for Michael Burnham was *brilliant* and she was a *thoroughly* compelling character. Now, that Ash Tyler should have been killed off about 15 minutes after they escaped from the Klingon gulag, because he became COMPLETELY annoying, obstructive, and disgusting. Like an antibiotic-resistant strain of the clap, there appeared to be no getting rid of that a-hole. And I could TOTALLY have missed out on the weird alien three-ways with that Klingon lady L'rell or whatever - just *eeewwwwwwww*. Never *WANTED*, never *CARED*, they could have ALL been killed off and I wouldn't have minded a bit. Great characters: the spore drive guy (Stametz?), Tilley (against all expectations), the brilliant Supreme Queen What's-her-nose with the epic eyelids, and the new Captain Pike was truly impressive. Also, notice how the Terran Georgiou, despite being evil through and through, ends up on the side of the angels? That was masterful. Can't sign off without a tip o' the hat to Saru, though...

To be fair, Star Trek was always about "diversity, diversity, diversity" And was always rather progressive.. The trouble though is, they went off the deep end with it, like the far-left party it's catering to.

The worst thing about this and Picard is how it deconstructs our beloved past heroes and renders them weak, mean, and small. It's heartbreaking. Why don't the likes of Kurtzman stop 're-imagining' past classics and create something new? Because they haven't got the ability, drive, or passion.

Question: Isn't making more diversity genocidal? I mean, removing a large portion of society in favor of having more of another group seems pretty awful. Also, if being part of the majority is a bad, evil thing, then shouldn't Hollywood purge themselves of the woke majority?

I didn't think there could ever be anything worse than having to sit thru Charlie's Angels (2019) or Ghostbusters (2016)...but this frolicking POS of a series makes those epic failures look like Oscar contenders. Maybe they could sonehow do a crossover with Batwoman (believable and talented writing is obviously no barrier for these folks) where diverse female space jesus meets diverse lesbian omnipotent super hero. Imagine the boxes we could check with that one. I think I smell an Oscar...or is that just bad Tuna?

FIrst: Don't think of it as "Star Trek"-Discovery, think of it as "generic science fiction TV show"-Discovery. It really doesn't have anything to do with the Star Trek franchise other than stealing some ship and minor character names from the original. Second: It's amusing how each season seems like a reboot of the show, having little to no connection with the previous season beyond having a few of the same actors wearing the same costumes. Main plotlines and characters from one season are either killed off or tossed out the airlock to make room for the next season. Season one was all about some war with the Klingons and some guy who is possessed by a Klingon spirit that has some kind of romance with the diverse space Jesus. (?? at least that's what I think was going on, it's usually so convoluted that it's hard to tell...). Season two was the JJ Abrams-style reboot where everything is just an amalgamation of all the cliches of the original series (with the Enterprise and Captain Pike!). Season three was a jump 900 years into the future so diverse space Jesus could save the Federation and the plucky comic relief ensign from the first series becoming a battle-hardened starship commander. (WTF???) How does this show keep getting renewed?

I thought season one was okay. The biggest complaint I remember reading about is how they changed the look of The Klingons... my answer, look at ToS, and then TNG... it is okay to change the look. Season 2 of Discovery was a bit ridiculous. Season 3 is absolute trash.

The diversity itself isn't the problem -- well, if you ignore the tokenism behind it, of course. The biggest problem is the really bad writing, and the almost complete (and did I say "bad"? I meant "awful") rewriting of the canon. I hate the new Klingons. And also, for being such formidable foes, the way season one dealt with defusing them was completely ridiculous. It was all building up to a big confrontation, but no, it fizzled away like a dud firecracker. "Wonderful" in its cringe value. I have not been able to muster the courage to watch the next two seasons.

Eh? Really that big of a problem when the diversity and representation was organic and not drummed up in the story? Really can't look past that? Discovery earns whatever praise it gets. I guess not everyone logs-in to tomato for that audience score to be representational of reality. From the Vulcan episode alone, they manage to thrill without any action in the episode, just dialogue.

Hollywood's idea of diversity is African American, female and asian. Native American, Scandinavian, Persian, Siberian, Mongolian, south east asian, Indian, Arab, Polynesian & etc basically don't exist. When was the last time you saw a non-American Star Trek main character? If Gene Roddenberry was alive he'd make one of the main Characters Iranian like he casted Chekhov in the middle of the cold war.

Occurred to me that part of the reason why I enjoyed Season 1 and Season 2, Burnham was balanced by some reasonably strong male characters: Lorca, Ash Tyler and Captain Pike who were able to challenge her. I liked Book initially, but after a while realized that he although he has some good moments and advances the plot, eventually he only exists to show how capable Burnham is. Sadly, calling Burnham a "Jesus" character is appropriate because not only did she save the galaxy, it was clear that she was predestined to do so - while Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Picard and co, Janeway and Scott Bakula saved the galaxy too, they never seemed like messianic characters, because the writers were clever enough to avoid falling into that trap - sadl, here it seems to be done on purpose. I'm pretty much done with Discovery, might watch 1 or 2 episodes of season 4, but if it's like season 3, that'll be it.
