The whole plane scene is ridiculous obviously but no, planes arent designed to withstand high wind resistance at those angles and the wings would be ripped off

Well I think everybody agree this is the worse of the trilogy. So nothing new.

Drinker, I have to disagree with you on a particular point in the plot In regards to the opening act with the two planes... While I concede the plot surrounding it unrealistic and ridiculous, the first aircraft bring unaware of another plane coming up behind it is quite conceivable. Airliners don't have mirrors, don't have rear windows, don't have rear cameras and their windows are flush with the body, so rear angled view is limited at best, totally rearward, none. As for radar and transponders, well airliners only have a forward looking weather radar, which wouldn't be able to detect even aircraft ahead of them in any meaningful way. Ground based Primary Radar (the kind which sends out and receives pulses) is only used around the immediate area of major aerodromes (approx 30 nautical mile radius). Other radar (where there is coverage) is Secondary Surveillance Radar, which is dependant on transponders (which can be disabled), and the modern GPS tracking system (ADS-B) can also be disabled, if it's even fitted. So based on that, it is quite possible for the aircraft in front to not be aware of the aircraft behind if it's running dark!

I think DKR is the best of the dark knight trilogy and I feel no shame in saying that.

Don't forget the lackluster fight scenes

Affleck's Batman was in my opinion more like Batman should friggin be, even 20 years into the role. Bane's was weak and ineffectual and the movie was just silly. The 1st 2, yeah good work.

When seeing that batman logo on the bridge I always imagine Bruce wayne spending all day hanging on that bridge, whistling along with his radio and carefully painting the bridge with gasoline, making sure it looks just about right for when the city almost blows up because he wanted to be a painter instead of fixing the problem

If Heath Ledger hadn't died im sure they would have had him in the 3rd film which would have made it more coherent. Probably had a few rewrites after his death.

You are 100% about Gotham losing its character by portraying it as an ordinary city instead of some Gothic utopia/dystopia.

This movie was the point when Chris Nolan was losing his touch!

I still love the fact that Bruce travels halfway around the world from his hole in the ground to get back to Gotham within literally about six hours despite not knowing where he is or having any money, passport or transportation about his person to be able to facilitate this. Madness.

After Ledger's death you can notice that Nolan lost his enthusiasm about Batman, and he probably shouldn't have done the third one. But without him, there wouldn't have been a third film (Bale would've left for sure). At the same time, if Rises was the result, then... it probably would've been best if they just left it hang in with The Dark Knight. Ironically, they lived long enough to see themselves become the villain.

The popular revolution in the city is all reference to the 2008 financial crisis. It's very prophetic actually. I saw an interview of an Egyptian economist in the US saying you can't buy ammo anymore because its all been stocked up by angry citizens!!

'T2 Judgement Day' has logical inconsistencies in it but dramatic effect and themes outweighed those considerations and in key scenes too, but people love and venerate it nonetheless! In the case of Dark Knight Rises, Catwoman is mainly someone who outsmarts her opponents although I have to admit she didn;t have the physical bulk for some of her action scenes. The prison is clearly in Afghanistan and Bane has taken it over to torture Bruce Wayne, mentally, all references to CIA black sites and the war on terror also alluded to in the opening action sequence. The prison itself is a symbol of the US after 9/11 with people being so scared and mistrustful that they imprison themselves, and Bruce Wayne leaping high enough is driven by fear of death, the opposite of a suicide wish (suicide terrorism, extremism), and Bane is also an example of 'blowback' since Liam Neeson's character also fought in this country as a mercinary and the girl that escaped was his daughter, the bastard child of the confrontation between East and West. I also admit that the city of Gotham didn;t look good, a problem in the second movie too, and don't know why.

I have seen this film at least twice and cannot remember a thing about it. Apparently Tom Hardy is in it. 🦇 Robin appears only never to be seen again and then the next movie Batman fights Superman until they both realise they had fathers and have a homoerotic experience. Bulkcrap.

umm, nope. This is the best of the trilogy, hands down.

The real strengths of the trilogy are the plausibility of the visuals (although I know you apparently prefer the older conception of a more Gothic Gotham) and its villains, all three of which were excellent performances. That said, the movies are overrated. The Bat-voice is terrible, Bale’s costume was grossly inferior to Batfleck’s costume, and the portrayal of Bruce Wayne as a miserable man moping his way through a brief crimefighting career rather than a Dredd-like avenger of the night on a mission to make criminals wet their pants was misguided from the start.

You made several good points, but still this move is better then Disney Trilogy Star Wars, or other movies that I watched in last 4 years (with exception of Joker).

The one thing I will say is that in the movie Bruce had the auto pilot fixed and he never actually flew out to sea. Shortly after the scene of him inside the cockpit he had a jetted out and the plan flew itself out until the explosion. That's the only logical explanation of how he would have survived that in any sort

I actually hated tom hardys performance as bane...his stupid voice is getting on my nerves...yeah yeah i know everyone liked him... But hey at least bale is even more stupid with his outrageously bad batman voice

Not every sequel movie that comes out can live up to the movie before it. Entertainment wise it is still a great movie and a good end to the most high rated trilogy of all time.

I know Rises has problems but I Still like all this films.

Only one person escaped from there, and it was a child everyone else who tried failed. Another point of the prison is hope gets stamped out of there, without hope people would not care to escape. Your saying all these what if's but they didn't happen, the U.S. coouldn't intervene because they would activate the bomb, people were too scared to rise up, which is why the criminals had control of the city. The point of the time was to torture Bruce. And why do u keep saying Bane's plan, it was Talia's, and its not like its a BIG spoiler the movie came out a long time ago. And Talia escaped because she was Raz ah Gul's daughter, this is Batman yooo!!!!

The opening plane shows Americas over confidence, and how they don't see Bane and his people as a threat. Even though that sequence doesn't make sense, it looks awesome it also seems they actually used real planes so not only does it look awesome but IMPRESSIVE. -jammed communications -one man stayed to show the audience their dieing loyalty to Bane -because America did not view them as much of a threat they would've failed to do a detailed investigation I agree with the reactor points

Bane wasn't the villain. Ra's Al Ghul was the villain, essentially, and Bane and Talia were enacting revenge on their behalf. The reason why they went to the trouble of crippling Batman and making him watch Gotham tear itself apart instead of just doing so was revenge for killing Ra's. It's what I saw the first time, anyways; a lot of the other stuff this bastard criticizes seems bang on.

But you thought the joker was movie of the year so what do you know.

Curious to hear a review of the other two movies. I think Batman Begins was solid and Heath Ledger as Joker was excellent. The analogy of the two friends who ere elevated by hanging around the 3rd friend implies the Drinker thinks only one Batman movie was great and the other two are elevated because of that. My inclination is that two of the movies are good and the 3rd fell. If Ledger hadn't passed history could have been very different here.

Nah I don’t think so. It’s much worse than the dark knight but it’s as good as batman begins and compared to other superhero films both of them are in the absolute top.

Why is Batman’s armor 100% ineffective against knives? I know a lot of bulletproof material isn’t great against knives, but she didn’t even wind up or stab quickly the knife went through with no force like it was paper.

Most of your points are absolutely valid but the plane wings were not designed to withstand that amount of pressure on that suddenly increased surface area, so snapping off alignes w real life physics.

I watched Memento again today. I hadn’t watched it for years. I didn’t know who Christopher Nolan was when I first saw it. I enjoyed that one.

The daughter of Ras Al Ghul stabs Bruce in the lower right quadrant... where only the intestines which don’t bleed nearly as much as the mesentery, spleen, liver. I guess because they needed the plot to happen. I also threw a fit in the theater when Bruce was alive in the last scene

The best thing about TDKR was that it was the last one. Unfortunately we later got Tenant. A film in reverse with dialogue that sounds like someone was talking in a sound proofed room. Well done Nolan.

Dark Knight Rises is a sick and very watchable movie. Bane is a badass.

Upside. This Bane is somewhat better than Batman Forever's interpretation of Bane. Although I prefer the grunts and gruff one syllable word Bane over unintelligible, high pitched voice Bane. OF COURSE!
